Who we are
CapitolStrong is a coalition of civil society organizations working to strengthen and invest in the institution of Congress and the people who serve there. In moments of crisis—whether from violence, natural disasters, government shutdowns, or other challenges—Congressional staff continue to show up and serve. We're here to support you through it all.
Created to provide resources and community for congressional staff after January 6th, CapitolStrong remains committed to supporting the legislative branch through current and future challenges.
The reality of Congressional service
Working in Congress means serving your country, but it also comes with unique pressures:
- Financial strain: Government shutdowns, rising costs of living, and compensation challenges can create real hardship
- Safety concerns: Threats and security issues create daily stress for staff and their families
- Demanding workload: Long hours and high-pressure responsibilities take a toll
- Emotional impact: The cumulative effect of these challenges can be difficult
The people who serve in Congress come from all walks of life, united in their commitment to public service. They deserve support, resources, and community—especially during difficult times.
Why “CapitolStrong”?
"CapitolStrong" recognizes the dedication and resilience of Congressional staff who show up each day—through shutdowns, amid threats, during crises both personal and national—to keep our government functioning.
It's not just a hashtag. It's an acknowledgment that you continue to serve despite tremendous challenges. To every staffer: We see you. We support you. You are not alone.
